Final Blog Post #4

Image
The goal for this marketing presentation and the ads was to grab the viewer's attention immediately and keep them engaged with the design. The aim was to hold their attention for about 11 seconds, focusing on what interests them within the ad.  The most challenging part of this assignment was creating three different ads for the same product, each designed differently from the company’s previous ads and those of its competitors. I didn’t want my ads to look like the typical energy drink ads the company or its competitors had already done, because viewers might think, “Oh, it’s just another generic energy drink ad, nothing new.” Each ad needed to target a specific audience to attract them.  I feel successful with all of my ad designs, but I feel especially confident about the UFC ad and the one designed for college students who are studying.

Marketing & Design Speaker Post #3

Image
The speaker is the Director of Operations and Marketing at ECASA Events. The topic of the discussion was how the company creates advertisements, how they distribute them, how they attract their target audience, and the costs involved in producing ads. After listening to the speaker, I learned that there are many ways and platforms available to advertise your work, product, or service in a way that captures people's interest. I also learned that creating an effective advertisement doesn't necessarily require spending a lot of money. One major point that stood out to me was when he said,  "Forget hard, get better."  This resonated with me because there will always be challenges, and some will be especially tough. What he meant is that instead of focusing on how difficult something is, we should focus on improving and learning from the experience. After listening to the speaker, I now have a better understanding of where we are today in the world of mar...

Multiple Page Layout Post #3

Image
The most challenging part about designing a six-page layout was fitting all of the text into the spreadsheets. The errors made it even more difficult because I had to find and fix each problem, and the final version had to be completely error-free. Kerning, tracking, and the style sheets also added to the challenge. If I adjusted the kerning or tracking of a word or sentence, it would sometimes shift the text in strange ways and mess up the entire layout. Yes, I now understand the importance of correct page layout when working with multiple pages. If the layout isn’t set up properly, content can get cut off, overlap, or leave awkward gaps. A good layout ensures everything looks neat, organized, and easy to read from one page to the next, which is especially important for things like reports, magazines, or any multi-page documents.

Page Spread & InDesign Blog Post #3

Image
I began to design my spread sheet by making my layouts for  the title, subheading and the  body text, inserted the text and gave it some tracking and kerning to spread the text out more to make it more legible. Then I inserted the images and made a text wrap so that the text would continue around the images to make it look a bit fancy. I think the grids and columns helped me with this because it guided me to stay within the margins and not exceed the limit. InDesign would be the best option for creating and designing books, articles, magazines and those sorts of things.

Blog Post Monogram & Apps Review Post

Image
Hello, my name is Diego Lopez, and the image above is the monogram logo that I designed. The challenge wasn’t in using the different Adobe applications to design my monogram—it was in creating the monogram itself. I wanted something clean and simple, inspired by logos like YSL and LV. The hardest part was choosing the right font, one that allowed the letters to overlap neatly without looking messy. I’ve learned how to finalize a project for print-ready use by exporting in the correct file formats. A final PDF is especially important because it preserves formatting, works across all devices, looks professional, can be secured, is print-ready, and serves as the official version for submissions or approvals.

Blog Post #2 Advertising

Image
What I already know about advertising is that the design needs to be able to attract new consumers. It should look professional and be eye-catching to the intended audience. I think simplicity in design is especially important—not having too much going on or anything too overwhelming unless it's necessary. The image above is an advertisement I created for one of my previous classes.

Campaign Ad Post #4

The ad maintains focus and branding using Macy’s signature elegance with a clean, minimal design. The blue suit contrasts with the warm tan background, creating a refined fall aesthetic. The typography is simple and sophisticated, aligning with Macy’s style. The red star logo and "Shop Now" CTA keep branding clear and consistent. I believe I successfully expressed the message of the ad through my use of color. The rich blue suit contrasts beautifully with the warm tan gradient, creating a refined, seasonal feel. Using the Color Range tool, I isolated the original red suit and adjusted the hue and saturation to transform it into a deep blue, while also modifying the background to complement the autumn theme. The warm tones enhance the fall aesthetic, and the red Macy’s star remains a strong focal point.      My creative process focused on selecting colors that align with the fall season, choosing a tan background to reinforce the autumn mood.
